St Alban’s in Eastbourne across the harbour from Wellington is a vibrant Parish set in a seaside town which is largely dormitory, with well-defined geographical boundaries and a very active community.
At St Alban’s Church in the Parish of Eastbourne we are looking for a fulltime fully stipended Vicar who will take delight in building on the excellent foundations we have, enhancing our young persons’ ministry, relating to all ages of parishioners and continuing the excellent relationship the Parish has with Wellesley College as the Chaplain of the private Anglican boys’ school set in Days Bay which provides excellent education to boys from Year 1 to Year 8.
The church itself is picturesque, nestled at the end of a one-way street and situated between the sea and the bush. In recent times baptisms have even been known to take place in the sea. Adjacent to the church is a vicarage, containing four bedrooms and a study, which is set in a large established and well fenced garden. There is a recently refurbished hall which also houses the Parish office.
A part-time administrative assistant has been employed by the Parish over recent years to assist with clerical tasks. There are two retired Anglican clergy who are parishioners who take services or preach from time to time and another parishioner who is due to be ordained priest later this year who also assists with services.
Over recent years the children’s ministry has steadily grown and the Sunday Clubs are regularly attended by large numbers of children.
