Zero Carbon Act—Pizza and submission writing party
July 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Did you know that until Thursday 19 July the Government is consulting about a new climate change law for New Zealand, called the Zero Carbon Act? Anglican Advocacy is hosting a Pizza and Submission-writing party at Logistics Drive on Monday 9 July, 6 – 8pm. Join the Facebook event here.
Our Diocese has been part of calling for this law as one way to care for our earth and love our neighbours who will suffer the negative effects of climate change. This proposed law will hold our current and future governments to a plan for reducing emissions to ‘net zero’ by 2050 and helping New Zealanders adapt. It will mean our businesses and industry can plan long-term, and make it easier for all New Zealanders to choose a low-carbon lifestyle.
It’s important that a Christian perspective is included in this nationwide consultation. Generation Zero has made it easy to put in a quick submission:www.zerocarbonact.nz/submission or you can do so via the Ministry for the Environment. Come along and find out more or contribute to Anglican Advocacy’s formal submission on Monday 9th of July.
