St John the Evangelist Church, Okains Bay—Akaroa and Banks Peninsula Parish (Banks Peninsula)

St John the Evangelist Church, Okains Bay, one of the oldest stone churches in the area, was built in 1863.

• It was badly damaged in the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, but a committee of local residents has been formed to repair and reinstate the church building.
• The church is currently being repaired.
