Lunchtime Lecture – The History of the Christchurch City Mission
June 14, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Rev. Dr Geoff Haworth, now retired, is writing two books – one on the history of the Christchurch City Mission, and the other on the story of A New Zealand Prayer Book/He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa. In 2008, he published “Marching as to War?”, the story of the Anglican Church in New Zealand during World War Two. In ordained ministry, Geoff has served as curate in Takapuna, and as Vicar of Pukekohe, St Paul’s Papanui, and Kaiapoi. For three years, he was Associate Ministry Advisor in this Diocese, overseeing the local shared ministry parishes. He spent ten years as a member of ChristChurch Cathedral Chapter, and three as Archdeacon of Mid-Canterbury. He is devoting much of his retirement to his passion for church history. He is married to Jenny, an author and publisher, and has two daughters and one grand-daughter.
