SOS for newborn babies—Knitters required
April 24, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Dear Community Networks
I am sending this SOS out for the newborn babies at Birthing Suite on level 3, Maternity at Christchurch Womens Hospital.
We would greatly appreciate the help of the Community Networks that can help with the following please – your support – greatly appreciated!
The birthing suite are desperate for hats, singlets, cardigans and bootees, in newborn size. – it must be pure wool and not acrylic
“The benefit of wool is that it can help with stabilising a baby’s body temperature. Because it’s a natural fibre it breathes, so there is less moisture build up. It’s also flame resistant, keeps warm in winter, cool in summer, is stain resistant, biodegradable, renewable, and soft.” Mary Campbell
If you can also encourage your community to donate wool for the following:
Mary (CDHB) is organising an evening at Knitworld, Peterborough St, on Tuesday April 24 from 6 pm – 8.30 pm and invites staff
members and the public to come along and knit for the hospital to replenish their stores. The charity evening get together would be grateful for donations of wool. These can be sent to the Fetal Medicine Unit at Christchurch Women’s Hospital.
I can do the pick ups to save people the travel and less cars in use – just call or text you have a few items and please put a note of who or where from as they would put a Thank You in the CDHB newsletter.
kind regards
