TOK FIVE Retreat

May 3, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - May 5, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

We are pleased to be able to tell you about the fifth “TOK” retreat being offered
Friday May 3rd through to Sunday 5th of May
The central idea behind these retreats is setting aside time for God to do what only God can do…
We have been inspired by the work of Roy Godwin in Ffafd-y-Brenin in Wales, and after reading his books The Grace Outpouring and The Way of Blessing, a small team of people from all around Canterbury have become involved in showing courses on Setting up Local Houses of Prayer and, more recently, The Blessings Course. Get in touch if you’d like to know more about any of these!
However, TOK retreats are not teaching retreats, but simply opportunities for you to take time out to hear from God, to met with God, to spend time with God. We offer three or four “offices” per day throughout the weekend, based on the practice in Wales at Ffald-y-Brenin: these consists of responses, a song or two, prayers, a Psalm and a short response to the Psalm led by different members of the team. The rest of the time is yours: some choose to spend it in craftwork, some in personal prayer in the chapel, some in walking around various local tracks, some in quiet conversations, some in listening to music. TOK experiences are not silent retreats as such, although many who have come for prior retreats have treated the opportunity that way…nor are these directed retreats, although there will always be someone to pray with you and for you if you would like that.
The main idea is for you to take time aside, in an intentional way, to hear God for yourself.
We cater for all kinds of dietary needs, have made special efforts to be wheelchair friendly, and note that many attendees have found that taking advantage of our billetting offers (local spare rooms, sleepouts, cabins, caravans, campervan parking-spots) has been a unexpectedly rich source of extra blessings..
