The General Secretary of the World Council of Churches Rev Dr Olav Fykse Tveit will visit Christchurch on the 8 and 9 October 2016.

He will speak at the Christchurch North Methodist Church (68 Harewood Road, Papanui) at 2pm on Saturday 8 October. Afternoon tea will be provided. Please RSVP to Emma at Christian World Service (Tel: 366 9274).

He will preach at 10 am on Sunday 9 October at a combined service at Knox Church (28 Bealey Ave). All are welcome to both events.

Olav took up the position at the World Council of Churches in January 2010 after completing a term as general secretary of the Church of Norway’s Council on Ecumenical and International Relations.

The Lutheran theologian will speak about the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and the work of the WCC. The WCC is a fellowship of 348 churches which held its first Assembly in 1948.
