ANNOUNCEMENT: TE PIHOPA O TE UPOKO O TE IKA
Kia whai korōria te Atua i runga rawa, kia mau te rongo ki runga ki te whenua, me te whakaaro pai ki ngā
tāngata.
We are delighted to announce the election of The Venerable Waitohiariki as the 2nd Bishop of Te Hui
Amorangi o Te Upoko o Te Ika.
Waitohiariki will be the first Māori woman, and the first Aotearoa New Zealand born woman, to become a
Bishop in this Church.
We give thanks to God for what will surely be an appointment of great significance for this Church, for
Māori, and for the Anglican Communion. We look forward to sharing with Waitohiariki in leadership and
ministry.

Waitohiariki’s ordination as a bishop will take place later this year at a time to be determined.
