We are excited to announce the appointment of Edmund (Ed) Hilder from Auckland as Anglican Youth Worker in Timaru from late January 2020.

We are excited that Ed and his family will be joining us here in South Canterbury as he picks up a role of two parts:

  1. Ed will be an “Anglican Youth Worker” based at St John’s Timaru (30 hours per week),
and will set up a youth group and community-facing youth work in Timaru.
  2. As “South Canterbury Anglican Youth Enabler” Ed will resource and encourage churches across the district to reach out to youth in their communities (10 hours per week).

A bit from Ed:

We are the Hilder family, Edmund, Clare and Esmé. In July 2018, we moved to New Zealand from South Africa for Clare to be closer to her family, as she is originally a Kiwi.

We have been in ministry and working within the church as youth workers for about seven years now. My passion is seeing young people in God’s kingdom take up their place and grow the body of God, and also find their true potential within Christ.

Clare is a budding artist and loves living out her creative side. Esmé is an aspiring gymnast and rock climber. At age two and a half, almost nothing is out of her reach. I love playing golf or working with computers or any sort of technology.

We have a heart for the local church and a passion to see it thrive within the community. We are excited to see what God has in store for us in Timaru and South Canterbury and can’t wait to join you early 2020.

Blessings, The Hilder family.
