“Lockdown has been a challenging time, and I appreciate the government has had to balance health, economic, and cultural needs and that it has taken a cautious approach to date. Today we welcome the lifting of the numbers of people that can gather from 10 to 100, and we are happy our parishes can begin to resume meeting for worship, while still being vigilant about hygiene, social distancing and contact tracing regimens. I’m sure this will be good news for leaders of all faith groups. I personally wish to thank the Prime Minister for listening to our concerns and taking this step, and I look forward to gatherings of greater numbers when the government is confident New Zealand is able to do so safely.”
